My coaching is rooted in the integration of head, heart, and hand—the balance of strategic thinking, deep motivation, and purposeful action. I begin by listening with intention and asking questions to see different perspectives, creating space for clarity, insight, and the emergence of focused, meaningful paths forward. Central to this process is identifying the north star—the guiding vision—and co-creating the pathway to reach it.
I view leadership challenges as adaptive problems, not technical fixes. There is rarely one right answer when working with a community,, but rather an ongoing journey of trying, learning, reflecting, and trying again. Coaching, for me, is a partnership in that journey—supporting leaders as they navigate ambiguity, overcome obstacles, and grow into their full capacity.
It begins with story: understanding what calls someone to lead, and then deeply engaging with the problem they seek to address. My greatest fulfillment comes when I witness leaders grow in self-efficacy—discovering new ways of seeing themselves and their role in the world. Even more, when they extend that growth outward, empowering others to collaborate, connect, and recognize their collective power.
The pinnacle of my work is seeing leaders organize their communities to build power—organizing on the ground, uncovering hidden strengths, and building movements rooted in shared purpose.
This was beautifully embodied in my work with a leader inspired by AFHE to launch a leadership program for health workers in their community. Through intentional coaching, she shaped a people-centered design, explored how to engage the community authentically, identified emerging leaders aligned with the vision, and built a team with clarity, focus, and shared intention.
That is the transformation I believe in—and the change I am committed to nurturing.
