Bio

Dr. Alaq Al-Muwali is a medical doctor from Iraq. She previously served as Program Assistant at Partners Iraq, a field office of the DC-based non-profit Partners Global, where she worked to ensure the protection of Iraqi women from violence and discrimination through the promotion of the gender provisions of national Iraqi laws.

She previously served as the National Officer on Sexual and Reproductive Health and as the Vice President for External Affairs in the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations-Iraq (IFMSA-Iraq) where she focused on women’s rights, promoting mental health, and assisting the organization’s response to the internally displaced persons crisis. She is passionate about systems thinking and health systems strengthening. Alaq graduated from Baghdad University/College of Medicine in 2018 and is currently working to obtain a MSc degree in Global Health with Global Surgery from King’s College London.
