Geminn Apostol ’23 was awarded for outstanding research in sustainability for a study investigating the relationship between temperature and dengue incidence across different socio-economic conditions in the Philippines. The study suggests that socioeconomic factors modify the temperature-dengue relationship, emphasizing the need for localized, socio-economically tailored interventions.

Kenneth Jones ’17 examined patient-centered care differences between sexual minority (SM) and heterosexual veterans in VHA primary care. Using survey data, he and his co-authors found that younger SM veterans reported poorer experiences, such as less respect from providers, fewer health inquiries, and less careful listening, highlighting the need for improved provider training to create a more inclusive environment.

Neha Raykar ’17 assessed women's satisfaction with ante-natal care (ANC) services in Rajasthan and its impact on compliance during pregnancy. Satisfaction correlated positively with ANC visits and iron/folic acid tablet intake and was higher among educated women. Improving ANC experiences, particularly individual attention and infection management could enhance compliance and maternal and child health outcomes.

Anjali Singh ’18 completed a research project in underserved communities in one central province of India to highlight how health communication messages are inadequate or not understandable to the communities they are meant for. The state government funded the project and, based on the results, engaged stakeholders to develop an appropriate communication strategy.
