Bram Wispelwey (2020 cohort) and his team developed the Healing ARC to address racial disparities in care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where Black and Latine patients with heart failure were less likely than white patients to be admitted to cardiology despite having similar medical needs. Their clinical tool alerts doctors when a patient may be affected by past inequities and recommends cardiology care. In two years, the intervention helped more than 90 Black and Latine patients receive care they might otherwise have been denied.
