Thomas Merrill, MA
Thomas Merrill is a data scientist at Martin’s Point Health Care, a partially integrated not-for-profit medical organization based in Portland, Maine and a student in the global studies PhD program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His current work is in population health, risk adjustment, and designing integrative data analytic systems for the measuring and monitoring of healthcare quality improvement in varying policy environments. Mr. Merrill transitioned into Medical Informatics after serving as economist and census state data center lead for the Maine State Planning Office. He holds a master’s degree from UMass Lowell’s Regional Economic and Social Development program where he worked with the Center for Industrial Competitiveness. His undergraduate education included a dual major in computer science and geography from the University of Maine at Farmington where he was also awarded a Senator George J. Mitchell Peace Scholarship.
