Thomas Merrill, MA
Thomas Merrill is a data scientist at Martin’s Point Health Care, a partially integrated not-for-profit medical organization based in Portland, Maine and a student in the global studies PhD program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His current work is in population health, risk adjustment, and designing integrative data analytic systems for the measuring and monitoring of healthcare quality improvement. Mr. Merrill started working in Medical Informatics after serving as Economist and Census State Data Center lead for the former Maine State Planning Office. He holds a master’s degree from UMass Lowell’s Regional Economic and Social Development program where he worked with the Centers for Industrial Competitiveness and Institute for Visualization and Perception Research. His undergraduate education included a dual major in computer science and geography from the University of Maine at Farmington where he was also awarded as a Senator George J. Mitchell Peace Scholar.
Focus: Working in population health, risk adjustment, and designing integrative data analytic systems for the measuring and monitoring of healthcare quality improvement in different policy environments.
