Youth Development

Kate Daugherty ’21 was recognized with the Garden State Equality Lived Equality award for her advocacy and education on adverse childhood experiences for everyone, especially for LGBTQ+ New Jerseyans. She organized the training team specializing in trauma-informed care training and professional development for youths.

In a previous role at Outdoor Outreach, Lesford Duncan ’18 worked to make the outdoors accessible for all San Diego children. Providing outdoor opportunities helps children build confidence, gain a sense of possibility and learn leadership and advocacy skills.

Naglaa Fathy Lithy ’21 founded the Games for Goals initiative, which uses interactive games to raise children’s awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals in marginalized areas. The games also help youth solve problems related to health and gender equality while spreading the principles of peace.

As part of his work with UNICEF Eastern Caribbean, Bertrand Moses ’20 launched mental health focus points across 17 Caribbean countries and territories. Focal points are young advocates who will implement youth mental health programs in their countries and mobilize other young people to prioritize mental health.

Christina Rosenthal ’18 published You Can Become a Doctor Too, a children’s book written to inspire young people and encourage them to pursue healthcare careers.

Tyler Spencer ’18 founded the Grassroots Health organization, which creates spaces where young adults can learn about important issues such as mental and sexual health through sports-based games. The organization also provides health literacy and empowerment to middle school youth.
