Zulayka Santiago joined the North Carolina Oral Health Collaborative as director in August 2015. In this role, she convenes a diverse group of stakeholders committed to building health equity for all North Carolinians. Prior to this, Ms. Santiago worked as an independent consultant, providing leadership, capacity building and technical support on various projects relating to social justice, philanthropy, health equity, cooperatives and community engagement. In previous roles she has served as health disparities program officer at the North Carolina Health and Wellness Trust Fund; youth program director and subsequently executive director for El Pueblo Inc., a statewide Latino advocacy organization. Ms. Santiago holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She is a founding member of Earthseed Land Cooperative.  

Focus: Zulayka provides inspiration, instigation, and support for projects focused on equity, social justice, and authentic community engagement. She invests in the emergence of new organizational models within the nonprofit sector.
