Bio

Dr. Sara Sukudom is a physician trainee based at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Western Australia. Having spent her childhood moving across eight countries as an expatriate, she has cultivated a deep appreciation for perspective – and how depth and breadth of perspective can illuminate the dimensions of our biggest healthcare challenges. Her pursuit led her to obtain concurrent degrees in corporate finance, clinical medicine and public health from the University of Western Australia and the University of Sydney. Previous projects include leading an initiative at the WA Metropolitan Centre for Disease Control to investigate syphilis outbreak outcomes among culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations; providing consultancy services to non-profits working to bridge health equity gaps among Indigenous Australian communities; and evaluating the rollout of a universal early childhood support program in Western Sydney. She currently sits on a governance committee overseeing the use of medical therapies within the state. As a published researcher and advocate for equitable health innovation, she has been involved in the receipt of over $1.5 million in grant funding. Her current focus is on the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and the development of an AI-based tool to provide equitable education for patients with chronic disease.
