Bio

Muhammad Fathun is a public health practitioner and youth development advocate committed to turning health equity into everyday practice. As a Technical Consultant at WHO Indonesia, he supports national immunisation and VPD surveillance strategy through field-based insights and systems thinking. In 2023, his investigation of a preventable polio case in Aceh, involving a 4-year-old boy who had never been vaccinated due to fear, not lack of access, underscored the urgent need for health equity. This experience further fueled his commitment to health equity as a lived, urgent priority. He co-developed the MEUSEURAYA Initiative, a training and mentoring model for health workers in high-risk districts. He is also the Co-founder of The Leader, a youth NGO that has made a significant impact by empowering young Indonesians through leadership and health-focused programs. He holds an MD from Syiah Kuala University and an MSc in Global Health from King’s College London as a Chevening Scholar.
