Shatyam Issur is a human rights advocate whose career focuses on harm reduction, social and mental well-being, and HIV prevention and treatment for key populations, including people who use/inject drugs, sex workers, LGBTQIA+ community, and people living with HIV. Shatyam was the director of the Collectif Urgence Toxida, a local NGO that provides harm reduction services to people who use drugs in Mauritius. He was also the NGO representative on the Global Fund Country Coordinating mechanism of Mauritius. Shatyam was also mandated on the long-acting technologies community advisory board of the Treatment Action Group.

As a firm believer of youth empowerment and leadership, Shatyam joined the Youth Advisory Board of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Mauritius in 2021, and he attended the 2022 One Young World Summit in Manchester.

Currently, Shatyam is working as an independent public health and fundraising consultant with clients such as Y+Global, NalaFeminist Collective, Youth Rise, KELIN, Kaleidoscope Trust under his portfolio. Shatyam also joined the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) in 2023 and is a reviewer for the second Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Well-being. Additionally, Shatyam also completed his master’s degree (LLM) in corporate law from the University of Mauritius.
