Shatyam Issur is a human rights advocate whose career focuses on harm reduction, social and mental well-being, and HIV prevention and treatment for key populations, including people who use/inject drugs, sex workers, LGBTQIA+ community, and people living with HIV. Currently, Shatyam is the director of the Collectif Urgence Toxida, a local NGO that provides harm reduction services to people who use drugs. He also sits as NGO representative on the Global Fund Country Coordinating mechanism of Mauritius. Recently, Shatyam was also mandated on the long-acting technologies community advisory board of the Treatment Action Group. As a firm believer of youth empowerment and leadership, Shatyam joined the Youth Advisory Board of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Mauritius in 2021, and he will attend the 2022 One Young World Summit in Manchester. Additionally, Shatyam also completed his master’s degree (LLM) in corporate law from the University of Mauritius.
