Our Approach

1. Attendance & Participation: Active participation and engagement across components of the program are at the foundation of the fellowship experience for your own learning and peer learning.

2. Individual Reflection & Exercises: Individual work during the convenings and online modules supports the development of essential leadership practices, including reflection, application and iteration.

3. Longitudinal Project: A longitudinal project (cumulative over the year) allows fellows to apply the knowledge, skills, and practices introduced in the fellowship to ongoing work in their community/organization and to take responsibility for impact and learning. Individual and small-group exercises support the development of the project.

4. Small Group Discussion & Exercises, Peer Coaching: Work in small groups is an integral aspect of the fellowship year, as it challenges and supports each fellow’s learning journey, engaging with different approaches to problem solving, diverse worldviews and experiences.

5. Spotlight Presentation: An opportunity for each fellow to reflect and share with peers and faculty on topics of personal and/or professional curiosity and passion. Spotlight presentations allow fellows to identify shared interests and begin to explore possibilities for mutual support, collaboration and collective action.

6. Collective Action Proposal: What we can achieve together is boundless, and we will invite you to explore the possibilities for collective action within your cohort, beginning at the Mid Year Convening and throughout the second half of the year.

7. Faculty Office Hours: A minimum number of office hours with program faculty facilitates consolidation of learning and early signaling of any challenges.

8. Expert Mentorship & Coaching: Optional mentorship and coaching are available throughout the year. Mentorship with content experts allows for targeted support on particular subjects, competencies or skills. Individualized coaching is available for additional support with career exploration and leadership development.

9. Equity Talk: The capstone of the program is a brief TED-style talk delivered by each fellow, with feedback from their peers, at the Final Convening. This is an opportunity to synthesize and reflect on the entire year-long fellowship experience.

Requirements for Graduation

To successfully complete the fellowship year and receive a certificate of completion, participants must:

• Attend and be an active participant in all three convenings
• Participate in no less than 13 of 15 live online meetings
• Complete all required assignments
• Participate in at least two faculty meetings, at least one of which must take place in the first half of the year
• Complete convening and module evaluations for program improvement
