Dr. Nonsikelelo Mathe is passionate about health equity, social justice, and systems transformation. She is dedicated to advancing inclusive healthcare solutions that address systemic barriers and improve access for marginalized communities. With a background in research, leadership, and healthcare entrepreneurship, she leverages data-driven, evidence-based strategies to foster meaningful change in policy, practice, and service delivery. As Scientific Director for Health Equity and Systems Transformation (HEST) at the Cumming School of Medicine, she leads strategic initiatives that integrate precision equity, implementation science, and interdisciplinary collaboration to drive impactful healthcare interventions.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean, HEST, she oversees research, program development, and community engagement, ensuring alignment with the school’s social justice and health equity priorities. Nonsi works across multiple units, including the Office of Faculty Development (OFD), Precision Equity & Social Justice Office (PESJO), and emerging leadership in Planetary Health, Black Health, and Precision Equity Research & Evaluation, to foster innovation in reducing healthcare disparities. Her work includes securing funding, developing partnerships, and translating research into actionable policies that improve health outcomes for underserved populations. Beyond academia, she is the Founder and Co-Director of Gateway Holistic Care Group, a respite and supported living agency dedicated to providing comprehensive care for autistic children, youth, and adults. Nonsi’s organization is committed to person-centered care, supporting families, and ensuring that neurodivergent individuals receive the services they need to thrive independently. She advocates for greater inclusion of neurodiversity in healthcare and policy and works to bridge gaps in services through innovative, community-driven models. With expertise spanning health equity, social determinants of health, autism advocacy, and system-level transformation, she is committed to building sustainable, equity-driven solutions that create lasting impact in healthcare and beyond.
