Bio

Dr. Zaki Abate is a physician and digital health strategist currently providing subject matter expertise to USAID-funded Digital Health Activity in Ethiopia, guiding the rollout of digital systems focused on emergency response and improving access to quality care. He is also a clinical advisor at HISP Ethiopia, part of the global Health Information Systems Programme Community.

Previously, at the Federal Ministry of Health, he leveraged his analytical and strategic abilities to advocate for and advise on community-centered, evidence-based health policies and research. His efforts included spearheading the national digital health blueprint and developing an infrastructure roadmap to expand access to and enable progress toward Universal Health Coverage.

Zaki completed his medical training at Addis Ababa University and is currently bridging medicine, public health, and digital technology to enable the full potential of digital tools to advance health equity and quality of care.
