Regina Duperval (2021 cohort) studied sleep, physical activity, and diabetes management among children and young people with Type 1 diabetes in Haiti, helping address a gap in research from low-income countries. Her research found that shorter sleep was associated with higher HbA1c, while physical activity was not associated with glycemic control or quality of life. The findings point to the need for more research into how sleep and other modifiable factors can support better diabetes outcomes for young people in resource-limited settings.
