Oscar Ramirez (2021 cohort) and a team of Global Atlantic Fellows conducted a field study across three regions of Peru to understand barriers to accessing basic healthcare. Their findings showed that trust, cultural and language barriers, economic constraints, and limited staffing and resources can all keep people from receiving care. The study recommends solutions that center community voices, strengthen culturally responsive care, and support health workers, helping health systems better reflect the realities of the communities they serve.
