Nancy Rumaldo (2021 cohort) examined how climate change and water insecurity are affecting Indigenous mothers in Maras, Peru. Her research found that 92% of surveyed households experienced water insecurity, affecting everything from household hygiene to food production and livelihoods. By centering mothers’ lived experiences and documenting community-led approaches such as revitalizing traditional stone wells, Nancy’s work offers insights for climate solutions that build on local knowledge and strengthen community resilience.
