Dr. Gafidyn Wesonga is a physician, trans rights activist and visionary LGBTQ+ community organizer based in Uganda who holds a first-class-honors degree in Medicine & Surgery (MB. ChB) from Makerere University and seamlessly integrates her medical expertise with a commitment to equity & social justice.

She co-founded ITWAM-Uganda, a rural trans eco-feminist youth-led nonprofit where she leads initiatives that bridge gender disparities and champion the rights of TGNC people in rural Uganda. Her work is deeply rooted in intersectional advocacy, blending SOGIESC rights into climate justice to drive impactful change.

A USAID GUIDE Fellow & YouLeader Fellow, Gafidyn's influence extends internationally, serving on the YSB for the MFA of Denmark and engaging with global networks CYGEN, CIVICUS and GYBN. Her dedication to health equity is evident through her collaboration with Rhiza Collective NY and FtF, enhancing mental health interventions for HRDs and LGBTQ people in the Global South.
