Bio

Dr. Stephanie Rolin is a forensic psychiatrist and physician-scientist at Howard University, where she is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care and leads a research program focused on improving care for people with serious mental illness at the intersection of psychiatry, public health and the legal system.

Her research develops and tests interventions that strengthen patient engagement, incorporate patient preferences into care, and improve outcomes during psychiatric crises. She leads an NIH-funded clinical trial for young adults with early psychosis and is developing strategies to integrate psychiatric advance directives into routine care.

Stephanie earned her MD and MPH from Dartmouth and completed psychiatry residency and forensic psychiatry fellowship at Columbia University. Her work aims to promote dignity, autonomy and equity in mental health care.
