Geminn Louis Apostol ’23 received a national award for his AFHE health equity project. This project led research on arsenic contamination in Batangas and created risk communication programs and materials that were distributed across the province.

Monique Brown ’20 published a letter to the editor in The New York Times advocating for coordinated action among federal and state governments and community members to address climate change solutions in New Orleans.

Ridwan Karim Dini-Osman ’23 writes about environmental issues in Africa for his work as a journalist with The World. In one story, he interviewed trash sorters from Ghana and hygiene experts about the health risks of sorting trash. He also spoke with Christy Adeola Braham ’23 for the radio version of the story about her work advocating for universal healthcare for informal workers.

Abraham Freeman ’20 trains volunteers, especially women household heads, to make useful products from plastic waste through his work with the Environmental Rescue Initiative. This initiative promotes environmental sustainability and community empowerment through innovation and education, while creating economic opportunities for local communities.

Akshita Siddula ’21 examines how urban farming can transform communities by tackling burnout, racial disparities, and food deserts. She advocates reconnecting with the land to promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen community well-being.

Peter Gan Kim Soon ’20 conducts health campaign advocacy training through panel discussions, interactive group workshops, and expert presentations to enhance health providers' ability to advocate for their patients and the environment.

Bilal Asim ’20, Shubha Nagesh ’19, Peter Gan Kim Soon ’20 and Lindsley Jeremiah Villarante ’20 united from across Asia in response to record flooding in Pakistan and ongoing climate change issues throughout the Asia-Pacific region to advocate for the most vulnerable communities and suggest ways to reduce the impacts of climate change.
