Amanda Brosnan ’18 is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center with responsibilities including teaching, research and clinical practice. She is also a mentor for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she mentors students and facilitates interprofessional collaboration.

Brigit Carter ’17 calls on educational institutions to enhance nurse preparedness by adopting a social mission lens. This approach will help schools more effectively align their curricula, policies, and practices with health equity, enabling nurses to better support individuals and communities in achieving their highest level of health.

Shannon Jordan ’21 participated in a Black Doll Making Folklife Apprenticeship facilitated by the Maryland State Art Council. During her apprenticeship, she collaborated with a master doll-maker to co-author a children’s coloring book that utilizes handmade dolls as characters to teach children healthy eating habits.

UCSF students chose Kai Kennedy ’18 to deliver the Sumner and Hermine Marshall Endowed Last Lecture on the prompt "If you had but one lecture to give, what would you say?” Kai delivered a lecture that intertwined various dimensions of her professional, personal, spiritual and cultural experiences that have brought her to where she is today.

Gilberto Lopez ’20 is the co-director of Migratory Student Summer Academy at ASU, a program that gives high schoolers from migrant seasonal farming families in Arizona a chance to experience university life by working in labs, getting hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and being inspired by world-class educators.

Toyese Oyeyemi ’17 advocates for medical school metrics to emphasize social mission instead of prioritizing privilege over purpose. Rating schools by their commitment to social mission would encourage measuring performance against the social mission of health education instead of by comparison against others.

Elliot Koranteng Tannor ’19 uses many different platforms to educate his community about kidney disease, including community events, media and social media. He published research with other authors that explored Twitter as an educational tool for nephrologists.

Bram Wispelwey ’20 founded and co-directs the Palestine Program for Health and Human Rights, an academic hub that uses a broadly collaborative justice and rights-based approach to studying Palestinian health through knowledge production, education and multidisciplinary community engagement.
