Esperanza Felicidad Cantú ’19 is the director of health initiatives at the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, where she partners with community organizations and public health agencies to improve community health. She helped direct nearly $2 million in grants and technical assistance to organizations fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in under-resourced communities in Southeast Michigan.

Jordi Luke ’18 founded and leads Haus of Transcendent (HOT), whose mission is to create an accessible, vibrant, and healthy community for all by identifying and addressing the social determinants of LGBTQS2+ health and then addressing those SDOH needs through case management and closed-loop referrals that connect people to nonprofit programs in Cleveland.

Tyler Spencer ’18 founded Grassroots Health in 2009 while a student-athlete at Georgetown University. He adapted a South African soccer-based HIV prevention curriculum for use in DC, launching the initial program with 40 athletes and four middle schools. Grassroots Health grew from there. Today, Tyler consults with philanthropic and nonprofit leaders to accelerate social impact through strategy, fundraising and evaluation.

Anthonika Titus ’23 improved the NOVA Hope for Haiti Medical Center by initiating team-building activities, introducing storytelling as a communication tool, and establishing regular, transparent communication with the staff to empower each team member. She also focused on increasing clinic attendance by implementing community outreach programs to rebuild trust and inform the public about improvements at NOVA.
